We’re always on the lookout for excellent people. We take CVs all year around and will always make space for the right people.

Head Chef

Kiln has grown into something alive — a Modern Middle Eastern kitchen built on craft, warmth, and a real love for ingredients. We grind every spice fresh each morning because we want the room to smell alive. We chase tomatoes that still taste like sunlight. We cook with pace, intent, and a bit of fire. The room is busy, the music’s good, the plates are handmade a few metres from the pass.

We’re looking for a Head Chef who feels at home in that kind of energy.

Someone who leads from the front. Someone who cares — about seasoning, about people, about the rhythm of service, about building a kitchen that’s sharp, calm, and proud of the food it sends out. Someone who understands that structure matters: we have systems, recipes, standards and processes that took years to build, and they exist for a reason. Your job is to uphold them — not reinvent them.

This role is about leadership, consistency, and craft. Menu freedom will come in time, but not at the start. You will have creative input and direction, but you will not be writing the menu for at least the first year. First, you learn the room and the rhythm.

• Lead the kitchen day-to-day with pace, calm, and consistency
• Uphold and protect all existing Kiln systems, processes, recipes, and standards
• Follow the established food style and philosophy; no menu writing for at least the first year
• Develop dishes within Kiln’s framework, with creative direction from ownership
• Train, coach, and support a young, ambitious kitchen team
• Maintain high standards of prep, organisation, freshness, and spice work (including daily grinding)
• Ensure accurate recipe execution and consistent flavour across all services
• Oversee brunch and evening à la carte service to a high standard
• Manage ordering, stock, waste, and GP with care and accuracy
• Maintain health & safety, hygiene, cleaning routines, and full EHO compliance
• Keep communication strong with owners, GM, FOH, and the wider team
• Protect and strengthen Kiln’s culture: warm, organised, kind, craft-driven, and quietly ambitious

Roles & Responsibilities

Menu & Food Direction

You’ll cook within Kiln’s established style and philosophy. You’ll help develop dishes inside that framework, but you won’t write the menu for at least a year. Your focus in year one is mastering our food, our standards, our way — refining with us, not rewriting.

Daily Kitchen Leadership

You run the room. You set the pace and the tone. You keep service sharp and calm — from the busy brightness of brunch to the slower, more deliberate flow of the evening à la carte.

Following Systems & Processes

We have strong systems: prep structures, recipes, ordering models, cleaning routines, kitchen flow, seasoning standards, and quality checks. You follow them, protect them, and teach them. You’re here to make the system stronger — not invent a new one.

Training & Team Development

A young, ambitious team needs clarity and consistency. You’ll teach them the craft: how to taste, how to prep, how to stay organised, and how to work with pace and kindness.

Quality & Prep Standards

You’ll drive the freshness-first philosophy — daily spice grinding, proper storage, full prep lists, spotless stations, no shortcuts. You’ll uphold our food being vivid, bright, and alive.

Ordering, Stock & GP

You manage suppliers, stock, waste and financial targets with a steady hand. You protect GP without ever compromising flavour or quality.

Health, Safety & Hygiene

You keep the kitchen clean, safe, compliant and fully ready for Environmental Health at any moment.

Culture & Communication

You protect what Kiln is: warm, organised, kind, ambitious, quietly proud. You communicate clearly with the owners, GM, and FOH teams so the whole building moves together.

What you bring

– Leadership without ego
– Deep respect for produce, spice, and proper craft
– Confidence with Middle Eastern/Mediterranean flavours
– Experience running a busy, structured kitchen
– A calm head, quick hands, and a steady temperament

What we offer

– A chance to shape the next chapter of a growing, craft-driven business
– A supportive ownership team who care deeply about people and standards
– Strong salary, clear progression, and a place where your ideas will matter over time
– Tips, staff meals, discounts, and access to our ceramics studio
– A kitchen built on energy, warmth, structure, and purpose

If you want to be part of something real — to lead, to teach, to refine, and to grow — we’d love to hear from you.

Sous Chef

Kiln is a busy, modern Middle Eastern kitchen built on freshness, spice, and real craft. We grind our spices daily, chase the best produce we can find, and cook with pace and intent. The room is warm, the plates are handmade, the food is bright and full of life.

We’re looking for a Sous Chef who thrives in that kind of space — someone steady, hungry to learn, and proud of the details. Someone who wants to grow into leadership properly, with discipline and kindness, following the systems that keep Kiln consistent and calm.

You’ll work closely with the Head Chef and owners, supporting both brunch and evening service. This role is for someone who wants to become exceptional: organised, trusted, and respected by the wider team.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Chef in leading daily service with calm, pace, and precision

  • Follow Kiln’s established systems, processes, recipes, and prep structures exactly

  • Maintain Kiln’s food style and standards; no menu development required at this stage

  • Run the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence confidently and consistently

  • Lead sections during service, ensuring perfect timing, seasoning, and plating

  • Train, support, and guide junior chefs and KPs with patience and clarity

  • Uphold very high standards of freshness, spice prep, storage, and hygiene

  • Complete and maintain prep lists, labelling, organisation, and cleaning routines

  • Assist with ordering, stock checks, waste control, and recipe accuracy

  • Help maintain full health, safety, and EHO compliance

  • Communicate clearly with the Head Chef, GM, and FOH teams

  • Protect Kiln’s culture: warm, kind, organised, craft-driven, and fast-paced

Chef De Partie & Junior Cooks

Kiln is a modern Middle Eastern kitchen built on real craft: fresh-ground spices, bright seasonal produce, handmade ceramics, and cooking that’s alive with flavour. We move fast, stay organised, and take pride in every plate that leaves the pass.

We’re looking for a Chef de Partie who wants to learn, push, and grow inside a disciplined, supportive team. Someone who cares about seasoning, timing, cleanliness, and consistency. Someone who values structure and follows systems — not shortcuts.

You’ll run your section with confidence, support the Sous and Head Chef, and help keep the kitchen sharp, calm, and vibrant.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Run your section with organisation, pace, and pride

  • Follow all Kiln recipes, systems, and prep processes exactly

  • Maintain the food style and standards set by the Head Chef

  • Prepare ingredients to a high standard, including fresh spice prep and daily mise en place

  • Cook dishes consistently to spec during both brunch and evening service

  • Keep your station clean, labelled, stocked, and EHO-ready at all times

  • Support the team by communicating clearly and helping other sections when needed

  • Work closely with the Sous and Head Chef to maintain quality, freshness, and timing

  • Follow daily cleaning routines and contribute to deep-clean tasks

  • Maintain correct storage, rotation, labelling, and waste control

  • Protect Kiln’s culture: warm, kind, organised, respectful, and craft-driven

  • Bring energy and a willingness to learn, improve, and step up when needed

Cocktail Bartender

Kiln is a lively, modern Middle Eastern café and bar with a cocktail program built on precision, craft, and real hospitality. Our drinks are bright, seasonal, elegant, and served with pace. We make our own syrups, cordials, and ferments, work closely with the kitchen, and serve everything in handmade ceramics a few metres from the bar.

We’re looking for an experienced Cocktail Bartender — someone confident behind the stick, quick on their feet, and proud of the details. Someone who knows balance, structure, and technique; who can move fast without losing charm; who keeps a bar clean, calm, and ready for the next rush.

This is a role for someone who loves the craft as much as the service — someone who wants to grow inside a team that values kindness, organisation, and quietly excellent drinks.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Make cocktails with precision, speed, and consistency during busy service

  • Follow all Kiln recipes, specs, methods, and systems exactly

  • Maintain Kiln’s cocktail style: seasonal, vibrant, balanced, and clean

  • Prepare syrups, shrubs, cordials, ferments, and fresh ingredients to spec

  • Keep the bar organised, stocked, labelled, clean, and EHO-ready

  • Manage your station with pace while staying calm and charming with guests

  • Communicate clearly with the bar team, chefs, and FOH during service

  • Execute prep lists, daily checks, and opening/closing procedures

  • Maintain knowledge of spirits, flavour pairings, techniques, and classic cocktails

  • Support training of junior bartenders and runners

  • Handle stock rotation, waste control, and accurate measures

  • Maintain the Kiln culture: warm, kind, fun, fast, and quietly proud

  • Deliver genuine hospitality — the drink matters, but the guest matters more

Experience Required

  • Strong cocktail bar experience (minimum 1–2 years in a high-quality venue)

  • Solid knowledge of classics, balanced spec building, and modern bar techniques

  • Confident in shaking, stirring, batching, and creating speed and flow in service

  • Comfortable with prep-heavy, craft-led bars (syrups, cordials, ferments, garnishes)

  • Experience in high-volume but high-quality environments

  • Ability to multitask, stay organised, and handle pressure with warmth

  • A natural communicator with real hospitality instincts

Barista

Kiln is a modern Middle Eastern café built on craft, warmth, and proper hospitality. Our coffee programme is simple but serious: clean, consistent extractions; perfect milk texture; sharp workflow; and a service style that feels warm, human, and fast on its feet. We work on a Linea Classic, Mythos grinders, and dial in every morning with intention.

We’re looking for an experienced Barista — someone who cares about flavour, timing, and detail. Someone who can keep a bar tidy, a queue moving, and a room feeling looked after. Someone who loves both the craft and the welcome.

This is a role for a barista who wants to be part of a team that values organisation, charm, and consistently excellent coffee.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Pull consistent, clean, well-balanced espresso shots throughout the day

  • Steam milk to a high standard with correct temperature, texture, and flow

  • Follow Kiln’s coffee recipes, ratios, and dial-in process exactly

  • Maintain a clean, organised, fully stocked coffee bar at all times

  • Manage workflow during busy periods with pace and calm

  • Communicate warmly with guests while moving quickly

  • Complete daily coffee checks, grind adjustments, and equipment cleaning

  • Prepare and serve house-made soft drinks with accuracy and consistency

  • Support the FOH team with running food, clearing tables, and service flow

  • Uphold hygiene standards and ensure EHO-ready cleanliness at all times

  • Follow Kiln systems: opening routines, closing routines, stock rotation, and prep

  • Contribute to a culture that’s warm, kind, organised, and quietly ambitious

Experience Required

  • 1–2 years barista experience in a quality-focused café or restaurant

  • Confident with espresso calibration, milk steaming, and maintaining workflow

  • Comfortable working fast in a busy, high-quality environment

  • Clear understanding of extraction, strength, temperature, and grind adjustments

  • Ability to multitask and communicate effectively while serving guests

  • Strong standards for cleanliness, organisation, and station management

  • Warm, positive hospitality instincts — people first, always

Front of House

Kiln is a modern Middle Eastern café and restaurant built on warmth, craft and proper hospitality. We move fast, stay organised, and take care of people with genuine charm. The room is bright and alive during brunch, then warm and candle-lit in the evenings. The kitchen is a few steps away, the plates are handmade, the spices are ground fresh, and the whole place runs on kindness and calm momentum.

We’re looking for Front of House team members — daytime and evening — who bring energy, clarity, and heart to the room. People who care about service, pace, and detail. People who listen, who move quickly, and who genuinely enjoy making guests feel looked after.

You don’t need years of experience, but you need the right attitude: organised, friendly, switched-on, and proud to be part of a team that values craft and consistency.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Deliver warm, genuine, confident hospitality

  • Move with pace while staying calm, organised, and charming

  • Learn Kiln’s menu, ingredients, and style of service (brunch and/or evening)

  • Maintain strong table service: taking orders, running food, clearing, resetting

  • Support the bar with soft drink prep and basic service where needed

  • Communicate clearly with both the kitchen and the bar

  • Keep the floor clean, tidy, stocked, and EHO-ready at all times

  • Follow all systems and processes: opening, closing, checklists, cashing up

  • Understand allergies and dietary needs within Kiln’s policy

  • Maintain high standards of detail: cutlery, water, plates, timing, guest flow

  • Make guests feel welcome from the second they enter to the moment they leave

  • Handle busy periods with discipline and good humour

  • Protect Kiln’s culture: warm, kind, fast, organised, and quietly proud

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong communication skills and a natural sense of hospitality

  • Confidence moving quickly while maintaining detail

  • A friendly, respectful, people-first approach

  • Ability to work well within a tight, dynamic team

  • Willingness to learn Kiln’s style and systems

  • Daytime availability (10am–3pm) and/or evening availability (5pm–10pm)

  • Experience in FOH service is helpful but not essential — attitude is everything

What We Offer

  • A warm, supportive team and a place to grow

  • Full training in Kiln’s systems, food, drinks, and service style

  • Tips, staff meals, and staff discounts

  • A busy, energetic room where the work is rewarding and the days move fast

  • A culture built on kindness, effort, charm, and old-school hospitality values
